Privacy Policy

Solène is built to be useful without knowing who you are. There's no account, no ad network, and no data broker in the loop. This page explains exactly what the app does — and doesn't do — with your information.

The short version: No login. Your profile, letters, and photos stay on your device and in your own private iCloud. Location is used only to compute today's sun, then discarded. We never run ads and never sell your data. A few single-purpose services keep the app running — Apple & RevenueCat for subscriptions, and anonymous, EU-hosted analytics — none of which get your name, letters, or photos. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.

No account, no identity

Solène has no sign-up and no login. We don't ask for an email or password, and we don't create a profile of you on a server. The first name you optionally enter is used only to address your daily letter.

What stays on your device

Your skin profile, daily letters, sun sessions, burn reports, and photos are stored locally and synced through your own private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit private database). They sync between your devices under your Apple ID — we cannot read them.

Location

Location is used for one thing: to look up the UV and weather at where you are, for that day's guidance. It is used at the moment of the calculation and is not stored on our servers or shared with anyone. You can deny it — the app falls back gracefully.

The daily letter

To write your letter, the app sends a minimal, derived set of inputs — your first name, city, the day's UV, your Fitzpatrick skin type, SPF, and the engine's mode — to Solène's letter service (a Cloudflare Worker) which calls OpenAI to generate the text. This request is used solely to produce that letter and return it. It is not used to advertise to you, build a profile, or train models on your identity. No photos, health records, or precise coordinates are sent.

Subscriptions

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription. The purchase itself is handled by Apple; we never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status (so the app knows whether you're subscribed and can restore purchases across your devices). RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app-user ID and your purchase/receipt info — not your name, email, letters, or photos. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Anonymous analytics

To understand which features are used and where the app can be better, we send a small number of anonymous product events — like "onboarding completed", "paywall shown", "session started", "letter opened" — to Mixpanel, configured on EU data residency. These events carry no name, email, letters, photos, precise location, or health data, and are not linked to your identity. We do not use advertising SDKs, and Solène does not track you across other apps or websites (no IDFA / ATT tracking). You can opt out of analytics from your device's system settings.

No ads, no selling

Solène runs no ads and does not sell or rent your data to anyone, ever. The only parties that ever receive anything are the narrow, single-purpose services named above (Apple, our letter service, RevenueCat, Mixpanel) — each used only to run the app, never to build an advertising profile of you.

Delete everything

Open Profile → Data → Delete to permanently erase all your data from the device and from your iCloud. It cannot be undone; reopening the app starts you from scratch.

Children

Solène is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll revise the date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
